May 6th to May 12th is NCPA Teacher Appreciation Week. During this week, students are encouraged to say “thanks” to their teachers. On NHS’s regular meeting, we made some posters with cardboard and markers to show our appreciation to teachers from different departments.
We appreciate for your hard work, and thank you with all our hearts!
Market Night is a traditional activity hold in NCPA every April. As a new organization in NCPA, NHS also attended this activity this year.
As the poster is shown above, NHS hosted a bottle flipping game. Four players each round, whoever ever get the most bottle standing after flipping in 1 minute can receive 10 RMB as a reward and enter the final run to earn 50 RMB!
At 4:30 pm, NHS members began to set our booth up. Then was just waiting for our players to come!
There are certainly a lot of talented players among students and teachers!
The champion of the whole night is Mr. Chen, our social study teacher assistant, he got 14 bottles standing in 1 minute. Looking forward to more activities later!
ps. Mr. Chen kindly gave the 50 RMB back to us as a recognization of everybody’s hard work.
On March 14th, Gamma Kappa Chi held a Pi Day activity. With its pronunciation similar to “pie,” this activity entailed throwing pie to teachers who were voted the top 3 by fellow students and teachers.
Gamma Kappa Chi took advantage of the voting process and tweak it into a fundraising project. Students/teachers voted by directing putting cash into each voting box. Voting started from Sunday night until we start pie-ing teachers. The top 3 voted teachers were Mr. Mathews, Mr. Yeung, and Mr. Elsen.
Also, three students were randomly chosen to pie the teachers. “3, 2, 1!” Counting down, the three teachers’ face was slammed with whipped cream-laden trays (though we added cereals to make it more delicious)!
At 3:14 pm, they got pied.
This year’s Pi Day was special: one of the greatest scientists of all the mankind passed away. He is Stephen Hawking. We were not only enjoying the amusement of pie-ing teachers, but also commemorating Steven Hawking. Pi Day, a great day for the great people we admired.
February 28th was the international Anti-Bullying Day. For the first time, NCPA National Honor Society (γκχ) held an event aiming to raise students’ awareness of anti-bullying.
Our treasurer, Frank Zhang, designed an anti-bullying pink T-shirt since pink is the official color of Anti-Bully. By selling this T-shirt to students and teachers in NCPA, we not only raised awareness, but also received funds that will be donated to a local school in Nansha.
Besides for that, we made educational posters and videos to inform fellow classmates about the importance of anti-bullying actions. We also mentioned that everyone has a right to resist bullying, whether you’re a victim or bystander.
Since we had an efficient promotion, students, and teachers responded actively on Anti-Bullying Day. The school also supports us to wear pink shirts during class time. One sophomore said:”I really appreciate this activity, it makes people realize that bully is never a trivial matter, it is strong enough to change a person’s life. Thank you for all your efforts. ”
As our slogan says, “Take a stand, lend a hand”, many hands make light work, resisting bullying needs everybody’s effort. Resisting bullying is more than not bullying others, it also means the understanding of how to protect yourselves and help others when facing bullying. Educators have the responsibility to help children and teenagers establish right values in their lives. Take a stand, lend a hand, NCPA, Anti-Bullying!
