自远程教学计划实施以来,学生们就在这过程中所遇到的技术问题向学校技术部门提交了共188份反馈。在这些反馈中,其中有56份是反映在家中连接网络速度缓慢的问题。这方面占了总问题反馈数量的31%,比重较大。这是由于中国内地的网络对外网的连接性有限,因此造成了学生在家中使用网络连接课程网站时速度缓慢-从本质上来说,是中国国内与国外其他地方的网络连接发生了“交通堵塞”。

Since the beginning of virtual school, students have submitted at least 188 tickets to the IT helpdesk. Of those tickets, the largest single source of problems (56 tickets; 31%) is students’ slow home internet connections. China’s limited overseas connectivity causes slow home internet connections – essentially, there is an internet traffic jam between China and the rest of the world.

  • 让学生直接发邮件给helpdesk@ncpachina.org寻求帮助。helpdesk的工作人员将会根据问题描述来判断造成该问题的原因是单纯性的网络缓慢还是其他原因,并将就此给出适用的解决建议。Ask students to e-mail the helpdesk, which will help determine if it is definitely a slow internet issue and will dispense recommendations as appropriate
学生无法在Canvas上提交作业或完成小测验 Student can’t submit an assignment or complete a quiz in Canvas
  • 再次确认所布置的作业是否还在有效提交期内,同时检查布置时是否限定了提交文件的类型 Double-check assignment availability times and whether you’ve restricted file types in Canvas
  • 采用Canvas的“Website URL”方式作为提交选项-这样的话,学生可以把作业在线上传到网盘,然后提取文件链接提交 Use Canvas Assigment’s “Website URL” as the submission option—so students can submit a link for a OneDrive file
  • 禁用“直接上传到Canvas“的方式来让学生上传作业(例如:不让学生上传docx类型的文件)Not allow uploads directly to Canvas for assignment submission (i.e. don’t have students upload .docx, etc.)

当学生发邮件至NCPA信息技术帮助平台反映网络连接缓慢时,学校工作人员会要求学生同时提供问题截图以便判断此问题是否确实是由网络连接缓慢的客观因素造成。继而,工作人员可根据问题可能产生的原因,提供基础替代方案列表供学生尝试。如果产生的问题并非仅由网络连接缓慢所导致,工作人员会通过Teams或预约通话来联系学生以帮助他们排查问题。

When students e-mail the helpdesk with a slow internet problem, we ask them for screenshots to help determine whether their issue is definitely caused by slow internet. We then offer the standard list of workarounds, depending on which task is being affected. If the issue is caused by something more than slow internet, we contact them on Teams and/or schedule a call to help them troubleshoot.
